Work With Move Health

We work with organisations interested in developing practical, evidence-informed activities to support health and wellbeing in their communities, particularly organisations supporting older adults, community wellbeing and preventative health.

Hosting

What to expect when you host a session

Who delivers it

A small team of MSc Physiotherapy students from the University of Stirling, supervised by registered physiotherapists.

How long

Sessions are usually around an hour. We adapt the length and format to your group.

Cost

Our aim is for sessions to be free or low cost. We will talk through any costs with you at the start.

What we need from you

A suitable space, a named contact person, and a conversation beforehand about what your group would find useful.

Keeping people safe

Activities are supervised, risk-assessed and adapted to your group. Students work within their competence and do not assess, diagnose, treat or give individual clinical advice.

Afterwards

We ask for feedback from participants and staff, and we share what we learn with you.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

What is Move Health?

Move Health is a community-focused initiative that connects physiotherapy education with prevention and community outreach. It aims to give students meaningful learning opportunities while supporting communities with accessible, movement-based health support.

Is Move Health replacing NHS services?

No. Move Health is not designed to replace NHS or other statutory services, or registered practitioners. It complements them by supporting prevention, early intervention and community outreach within clearly defined governance structures.

Who will come to our group?

MSc Physiotherapy students from the University of Stirling, supervised by registered physiotherapists. Students are never expected to work beyond their level.

What kinds of sessions can we host?

Examples include falls awareness sessions, health education sessions such as understanding lower back pain, the Move Health MOT, and community movement sessions. What we offer changes as communities tell us what they need.

How are quality and safety assured?

Sessions run with defined supervision, clear limits on what students do, risk assessments and data protection in place. We do not deliver activity without agreed governance.

Can we help shape the session?

Yes. We work with partners to design sessions around what their group needs. Our lower back pain session for the HEAL group at Inspiring Communities began with a student-led focus group.

How do we get started?

Send us a message using the form below. We will reply as soon as we can and arrange an initial conversation. There is a five-step outline of how it works on the What We Do page.
